Scrappy Tuesday

Happy Tuesday all.  I posted a layout last Friday and the one below is the companion layout page.  I used the same Martha Stewart Punch and cardstock for this one. The 'title' is actually a napkin I picked up at the wine shop we stopped in. One of my girlfriends is a big cat lover and she finds them everywhere we go if there is one....me I don't notice them. I took the cutest picture of cute her snuggling one of the finds during the day. That's her in the pink flower.

I used a Martha Stewart Zig-Zag border punch for this layout and cut the journaling strip with it also. It's a fun punch as it embosses a slight section along the edge. That newspaper dress is so fascinating to look at. It is the kind of object I'd like to own as a decorative art object but have absolutely no room for it.  I'm a crafty person but am not tackling that one...hmm; maybe in miniature. That would be cute.

This is what they look like together. These were fun to do.

I was going to put on Christmas layouts but I'm not home today and don't have access to my photos; so will put them on soon......

Mondays with Granddaughter

Grandbaby was talking to me while I was on the floor with her last Monday and when I got up to snap a picture her eyes followed me.....makes for a funny/cute picture.

She's pretty close to giggling now when I nibble her toes.

Monday's Joy by Diana Joy

Monday’s alarm comes with a dreaded blare
My bed bucks and says “get out of here”

I sway and stagger to prep for the day
The fatigue I feel is in my way

My mind awakens in slow fashion
To the day’s object of my passion

My Granddaughter, the pleasure of the day
Yes she’s it, the reason I feel so gay

Suddenly Monday is embraced with joyfulness
I can’t wait to get my arms around that little bundle of playfulness!

Have a good Monday all and I hope you find some joy in your day.

Garage Sale Friday, Ramblings and Crafting

The layout below was created using a sketch from Judy at:

http://piecesofmepapercrafts.blogspot.com/

She has it featured on her blog today. I always feel nervous sending her a layout I've created using her sketches. I fear she won't like it.  She emailed me a few days ago to say she loves it...Thanks Judy.

I also entered this layout in a Color Challenge over at Design Dollies. The colors to use are black, white, pink and green.....four of my most favorite!  This is the link to the  Design Dollies blog:

"Girls Night Out"

The zig-zag punched edge is done with a Martha Stewart edge punch. It is one I wish they had a 'corner' punch for.  I started in the middle of each side of the black cs and worked to the corners. Almost came out even.

I've had that round date stamp for a long time and forget to use it. It's a fun one to use and I nestled it in a flower this time.

I purchased a wine glass for each of my girlfriends and myself when we were at the Wine shop. I use mine in my Scrapping room to hold my liquid paper adhesive (upside down) in - no I haven't forgotten to put the cap back on: yet. It serves as a great reminder of a fun filled day with girlfriends. I like this layout and the colors and am working on a companion layout with some of the other pictures I took that fun day.

GARAGE SALES.....

I found this metal 3-tiered rack at a garage sale recently and bought it for $1. It needed a good cleaning and I gave it a new coat of black spray paint. I put the unit (2 tiers only) under one of my scrapping tables...just can't have enough shelf space (or storage).

I like interesting and fun Garage Sale signs. This corner had quite a few as you can see and none are really interesting......but the best sign on this post is the second one down "Go Slow - Critter X-ing"...haha.

By far the most fun, most creative and most darling Garage Sale sign we saw this summer (ever) is this little,  cute girl. She was standing at the end of the driveway shyly greeting people.  I asked her mom and her if I could take her picture and both said yes. I took it with my phone so it's not the best quality...I know her name but promised not to use it.  She was acting shy but it takes an outgoing person to do this (especially at a young age)...I foresee a performer in her....Her mother asked me for my blog address so she could see her daughter here...I hope she saved it.

It's Friday and I don't think I'll blog over the weekend so see you Monday.
I hope your weekend is good and do a kind deed for someone.

Our Son In-Law's Promotion

Our Son In-law was promoted yesterday in the U S Army to a Captain.  We were pleased to be able to attend his ceremony and are very proud of his diligent and outstanding work for our country in the Army. Good things were said about him at the ceremony; all deserved.

I share a few pictures:

The Order of Promotion was read.

Our daughter put his Captain Bars on his uniform. His dad pinned his beret.

The Colonel spoke fine words about these three who were promoted today.

Those that were available to attend, from their Company, did. These men and women served in Afghanistan with our Son In-law (7/2009 thru 6/2010).

Lots of congratulations of course. It was fun to watch our Son In-law's camaraderie with those he's serving with.

Our Son In-law's family:
His Dad, Sister2, Sister1 w/baby (he), our Daughter and his Mom.

Son In-law's oldest Sibling and her baby boy:
Major Mom and Captain Dad

So who ranks first?

Bring on the Starbucks coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts....

Granddaughter playing with her cousin who is 3 months younger that she is (and bigger already).

I'd like to take this time to promote a site that is dedicated to treating our troupes deployed with items they may be in need of (or craving).  Hubby and I have 'adopted' several of these people/groups. Take your time to look around their web site so you are comfortable being a giver thru them - if you can.

Good Will Wednesday

Good Will Hunter Hubby has found some interesting things at Good Wills in August.  He's always looking out for me....and found some cute scrapbooking paper that has the words "Baby Girl" on the packaging. He bought it and told me I could use it for a layout about our Granddaughter...how cute is that?

The bling that was together with it of course doesn't match but hey; for $1.99 minus his SS discount I'll take them. I already used some on two cards I made last week.

These two goblets are a fun find.  The blue one on the left is made by Fenton Art Glass Company in the 1960's. It is in their pattern called Thumbprint. I don't know who made the red one yet.  I'm stashing these away and when get enough of them will use them for a 4th of July dinner.

It's my sister's birthday today. Happy Birthday dear little sis.

So that's all today and may you have a happy Hump Day.
