Friday Stuff

I've been staying at daughters the past few days so am not really doing regular posts because I don't have access to my photos.

Hubby did go garage sale shopping this a.m. and reports he found a few neat things. I'm excited to see what they are.

I'm enjoying my cuddle and kissy time with granddaughter. She's a cutie.  hehehe; all grandmas say that about their grandchildren.

I found out thru a friend that my daughter's friend, Mandy, is having a giveway on her blog. Now she lives in the Pac NW area so if don't live in such it might be hard to get your prize. Mandy is a very good photographer and she's giving away a photo session.  This is her blog if you want to enter: http://mandychiappiniphotography.blogspot.com/2010/05/give-away.html

I would like to win because I think it would be nice to have a photo of hubby and I at this stage of our lives to give to our children.  Of course I'd like them to remember me young and beautiful looking; but it will also be nice for them to have a realistic memory of me old (and still beautiful).

Have a good weekend and I'll be posting my lastest layout on Monday.

Good Will Wednesday

Happy Wednesday all.  Good Will Hunter found some pretty crystal Heisey Glass plates  -  I think they will make pretty dessert plates....anyone want cake?

It's very hard to see in this picture but there is a Diamond in the middle with the initial H. That is Heisey's identification mark. Heisey made beautiful crystal glass. These were made at least 50 years ago.

This is a recently made candleholder. I like the frosted edge with the roses on it. I couldn't get a picture that shows it's real beauty.
We were in a different city last weekend and our GPS unit could not find any Goodwill's in the area. We can be in our neighborhood and the unit cannot find our GW. Why?  We've typed it in in so many ways....nope not to be found!  I don't understand that.

Well, have a good day and do a kind deed for someone.

Scrapbooking Monday

About two weeks ago Judy from Pieces of Me blog ( http://piecesofmepapercrafts.blogspot.com/ ) asked for volunteers to create layouts using her sketches for her Friday Scrapping posts.

I like Judy’s sketches as they suit my style of scrapping and so I volunteered. I received an email requesting some bio information and a day or two later received several sketches….some say beggars can’t be choosers; so hope I do her sketches justice and she doesn’t end up sorry she accepted me. It’s awkward to fire a volunteer.

This is the sketch for her April 30th post and below is my take on it - as you can see I turned 'it'. I did so because of the way I wanted the pictures to layout and overlap.  That is my cute Granddaughter in the layout. She was only a week old when they were taken.

I don't usually do 'lumpy' layouts but found these great flowers in my stash and love love them - I love anything polkadotted.  I use strap hinge albums so will have to put in about 4 spacers to make room for the height of these flowers. I just love the look on granddaughter's face (1 week old) in the picture on the right. The photographer snapped quite a few and the change on her face is precious; as she is. I'm a smitten Grammy.

This is a link to the first post Judy did that she used my work in. Mine is the yellowish layouts with Tulips in them. http://piecesofmepapercrafts.blogspot.com/2010/04/fabulous-friday-sketch-april-23.html

This is a link to the second post Judy used the layout above in. It's fun to see what others do with the same sketch.

As I said I like Judy's sketches and look forward to using more of them. Thanks Judy for creating them.

Last week I started two layouts and finished them on Saturday which was National Scrapbooking Day. My loving niece got married last summer and so I did one layout about the Wedding shower and one of the Wedding day.

I sprayed the cardstock with Glimmer Mist to give it a little sparkle. The edge punch is a Fiskars and the hearts embossed on the purple cardstock was done on the Creatopia unit - I'm hoping Xyron comes out with more embossing rollers: soon. The flower stems are actually swirls cut on my Expressions.

The background paper on this page is actually an opaque paper. I backed it with white cardstock. I found it in CA and now wish I'd purchased more while visiting there.

This is what they look like together. It was nice to scrap 'different' colors. I'm so attracted to greens/pinks and it is nice to scrap colors drawn from the photos....gets me out of my rut. I love the romantic feel of these layouts.

......hmmmmmm; now what to scrap. I have so many events to do!

Have a good Monday and week.

Happy May Day

Happy May Day everyone.  May Day brings back a memory of our Daughter when she was about 7. In 1st grade she learned about the tradition of leaving flowers on neighbors doorsteps. She was so excited about that and she and I put together about 8 of them and she walked up to each door and hung a cone with flowers in it on doorknobs. One neighbor saw her coming and greeted her at the door. She got suddenly shy about it all. I guess she didn't think she'd 'get caught'. It was pretty cute.

I share with you two of our flowering Rhododendrons. Our yard is always very pretty this time of the year.

Take care and have a good weekend. I have a cute layout to share on Monday. I'm just starting to scrap the new Granddaughter......so many cute pictures to choose from.
