Wedding Scrapbook

I started a Wedding Scrapbook Album in Fall of '09. My intention with this album is to Scrapbook mine and Hubby's wedding, our Son and Daughter in-law's wedding and our Daughter and Son in-law's. Weddings are such a happy event and I will enjoy doing it all. My wedding pictures are all in sepia so that will be a challenge for me as I don't want them to look depressing or 'vintage'......gee I'm not that old!

Choosing to start with Son's; I share with you the first three pages completed:

I don't record manufactures when I buy papers; but I love this red crinkled base paper I used.

Next two pages together. I wanted these pages to be similar (mirrored); but with a more masculine feel to Son's.

I found some beautiful ivory colored embossed cardstock to use on this project. The punched edges are done with a EK edge punch and the flourishes are Sizzix; as is the Title.

I used decorative edged scissors to form the small scallops on this page. The black 'cut out' strip of paper is from a 12x12" mesh paper. I inked the black flower with silver ink so as to tone down the black. It looked to stark to me before I did that.
....more pages to follow as I do them. I'm feeling better; oh for joy! Tomorrow should be great!
Bye for now. Have a good day and do a good deed.

Good Will Wednesday

Hubby had great luck in the past few weeks at our local Goodwill. This sweet vase pictured here is made by Fenton Art Glass Company and is called 'Rose Crest'. It is white milk glass topped with a ring of rose colored glass. This 6" double crimped vase was made from 1944-1947 only. One thing I love about the 'early' white glass is it has a transparency to it and is not the thick 'white white' glass made in more recent years. It is so fun to find a piece of 'older' glass still in perfect condition - especially for only a few bucks.

Having been to the Fenton factory in West Virginia and watched glass making I can tell you it is an art to be able to string a thin piece of hot molten glass on top of another hot item. The artists we watched made it all look so easy.

Isn't she sweet?

Looking down into her:
Bye for now. I'm home from work today; not feeling well with flu like symptoms: so back to bed!
Have a good day: do a kind deed.

Scrapbooking Concerts

Good Morning....it's my 'Monday'; back to work day. I've enjoyed my Holiday Time off work.

I like the challenge of Scrapbooking Events or Concerts I've attended. At Concerts we are not suppose to take pictures inside so I take them outside the venue and work with those - and try to get creative.

When Daughter and I saw Celine in LasVegas in '06 there was a guard up by the entry doors. I didn't want him in the picture and was glad when he moved away for a minute to talk to somebody...I quickly snapped the picture below. Hubby walked us over to the Casino and took a pic of Daughter and I out front. I love Celine's voice/style and I love paper punches.....so I used one of the heart punches I have to outline the black cardstock.

My good friend and I went to see Celtic Woman together last year. Fabulous concert, friend and evening. I pulled from many resources for this layout. The Paramount Theatre does not allow photos taken inside. I called them and asked how I could get some photos of the inside and they mailed me an advertising brochure which had a few in it. My friend has a booklet from one of Celtic Woman's other concerts and I photocopied a few things from it and cut out the title and picture to use on this layout.
The folded flower at the top is connected to a piece of cardstock on which I journaled about the Paramount's history.
Bye for now; have a good day. Do a kind deed.

Ramblings

Topic 1: It's the 12th day of Christmas: Happy Epiphany. Tomorrow I start taking Christmas decorations down. I always wait until after the Epiphany. I will miss the lights.

Topic 2: I was reading an article in today's newspaper about the way to say 2010. Who will make a declaration of the 'right' way to say it? Twenty-ten....Two Thousand ten?

Thinking back: we said 2009 as Two Thousand Nine (not Twenty O Nine; or Twenty Nine), but we said 1999 as Nineteen Ninety Nine...why not One Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety Nine?

So what happens when we get to 2101? Twenty One O One? Two Thousand One Hundred One?

Are you confused yet? apparently our country is about this. I vote for Two Thousand Ten.

Topic 3: I want to read Julie Powell's newest book Cleaving and put it on hold at our large County Library System: fabulous Library system I must add. She's the author of Julie and Julia which was made into the movie of such name last year. They have 20 books and I'm number 86 in line....glad I have other reading material in the meantime. I found an interview she gave about her intimate disclosure in the book of her affair and how she dealt with the stress. It's long and if you're interested this is the link: http://brooklynbased.net/everything/10-qs-for-julie-powell

Topic 4: The Baby Shower yesterday for Daughter was nice. She thought my card was a Vest and said "Mom you wrote in it upside down." Me: "No...it's a diaper". She turned it over and giggled and said "oops I thought it was a vest". So; I guess it could be....keep that in mind when making a gift card. A cute boy vest would be fun. Thanks Daughter for the idea.

Topic 5: I'm late in getting ready to leave for an Epiphany Dinner at Daughters..........Bye for now.

Make the day good: do a kind deed!

Layouts and a Card

Good Saturday morning. Having the past week and a half off work has led me to not know what day it is when I get up in the morning...but my trusty laptop says it's Saturday.

The making of a layout.... I decided to share with you today a couple of layouts I made for my Daughter and Son in-law’s ‘Pre-Wedding Album’. I documented in photos the planning, shopping, showers etc….all leading up to the Wedding Day. The two finished layouts below are of the ‘Getting Ready’ time the morning of the Wedding. But first I show a few of the layout planning ideas.....

?What to do with the photos??

You can see I moved photos around and now was picking colors....but again...there were more changes before completion.

Planning a layout(s) takes me a long time with lots of moving the chosen photos around, trying new combos with them and picking paper colors, mat colors and embellishments. Deciding what to do to it all is fun and I just can’t hurry the process. I decided to use green because of the T-shirt Daughter wore that morning while getting ready. These are the finished layouts:

I needed a gift card for a shower gift (for today) and liked an idea I got from Melissa at scrapbook.com. She made an invitation in the shape of a diaper. It’s a very easy design. Thanks Mel. http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/101158/view/1392095/4/20/1.html
I cut a piece of double sided cardstock 3”x8”. I scored it at the 2” and 6” and then folded the sides to the middle. I used a 1” circle punch to cut out the leg holes and decorated it. This is the gift card:

Simple Embellishments: ribbon glued to top, flower cluster made from two flowers/brad/pin, and Stickles on the leg opening edges (front and back).

The shower is for Daughter. So how cute are these booties? I bought them right after she found out the baby is a Girl.
Have a good day and do a kind deed.

Happy 2010

Since I seem to not fulfill my usual 'New Year's Resolutions'; I'm only making one this day; for 2010: Follow the lead of my Daughter in-law and Daughter and 'Be a better, more involved friend to my girlfriends'. ........ I've been lacking in that this past year and am full of guilt...time for apologies.

Onto new topic: Happy New Year! A new day, new year and new decade - yippee! I've seen in print lists people are putting out of their 'Favorite' song, movie, etc. for this past decade and I tried to come up with my own. But I can't remember my favorite anything from last week; so how could I come up with a favorite list from the past ten years? Can't!!

Onto new topic: I spent the past three days at Daughter's home doing some sewing for the nursery and enjoying hanging out with her. We had some family drop by and that was really fun. One couple had dinner with us Tuesday night and one couple had lunch with us Thursday. Hubby showed up to do a few projects for Daughter also.

The Nursery is still in formation but here are a few pics of the crib skirt and almost completed valance I sewed. I love the fabric combo Daughter chose:

Just starting to cut out fabric. See Baci on the floor: right side?

Close up of Fabrics chosen:

Ugly picture of Frump Girl (me in baggy sweats and slippers) on floor deciding on hem length of skirt. Do you remember which movie "Frump Girl" reference is from?

Valence: side hems need sewing still....another day!

So that is all for today. May your January 1 of 2010 be a great day and a great start to a great year and a great start to a new decade....ok, ok, I'll stop!
Bye for now; do a kind deed.
